Baptism Sunday

Today is baptism Sunday at pfmchurch.  The big tank is up and running, the service orders are prepped, the band is rehearsed, the doors will be wide open.  But the testimonies… oh, man.  The testimonies are powerful.  Better than any message I or even the great Rev. Billy Graham could ever give.  There is nothing like hearing a personal story of how Jesus has revolutionized someone’s life.

Each baptizee has written a thumbnail sketch of their encounter with the risen Jesus.  Before the dunk (a technical term), their testimonies are read.  It’s a Holy Spirit moment.  I love it.  I get nervous about it (mostly good nervous).  And I prepare spiritually and physically — especially physically, as I will be waterlogged for a good part of the day.  Worth it.

About radamdavidson

When I'm not blogging, I'm hanging out with my family, pastoring a church, or listening to vinyl. I think and write about Jesus, music, communication, organizational leadership, family whatnot, and cultural artifacts from the 1980's -- mostly vintage boomboxes. You can read my blog at www.radamdavidson.com, watch [RadCast], a daily 3 minute video devotional, or find me on socials (@radamdavidson). I also help Pastors in their preaching and public speaking (www.CoachMyPreaching.com).
