New New New New International Version

I just saw in a USA Today Article that Zondervan has announced an update of the bestselling NIV translation of the bible.   Zondervan addresses the issues raised by the T-NIV and will be taking it off the shelves by the time the New-NIV arrives in 2011.

The president of Zondervan says it best:

“The T-NIV is very divisive. It’s not a unifying translation. And it was poorly handled in the marketplace. We need to undo the damage,” says Maureen (Moe) Girkins, president of Zondervan.

You can learn more about it at Zondervan’s site here.

My favorite part is the rewording of Paul getting stoned — now rendered as “pelted with stones” (2 Corinthians 11:25).  This is good for those of us who speak to teens.
