LinkFest 7 — Vacation Links

Ah, sweet Myrtle Beach.  We’re spending a week at the Monterey Bay Resort with a very light vacation schedule.  Monday: swim, do nothing, eat.  Tuesday: swim, do nothing, eat.  Wednesday: eat, swim, cramps, etc.

It’s downright refreshing.

Some places I’ve found interesting while using free internet from the hotel adjacent to ours (since ours charges bling for something The Beach House gives us for free:

  • Good News for Detroit: We’re Number 1 as the Top Sports city.
  • Bad news for Detroit: We’re no longer Number 1 when it comes to car sales — Foreign Sales have exceeded US automakers. What an ironic news day.
  • Emily and I are reading a TON this week, her with Little House and a handful of Grandma’s books & I with The 12 Hazards of Being a Man
  • Article of the day at Wikipedia? The Super Nintendo, of course.
  • My face hurts (normally others, now me!) from that whacky tooth they pulled last year — something called “false pain”, where your brain says “hey, your tooth hurts” even when that tooth is gone. It’s strange. Anyway, I came across 5 Common Myths About Pain at WebMD. Interesting.
  • Will we ever find the happy medium in church music? No. Not until we get to Heaven. Just a thought as I’m reviewing some notes on a recent event. The only trend we can count on is one of variety — especially since we have the widest variety of ages and styles EVER in the history of the Church. The tension between being multi-generational and finding a unique voice/sound will continue.
  • My iBook G4 is starting to show its age as I’m watching it choke on 1’s and 0’s — too bad Apple is starting to abandon its Motorola/Power PC support for software updates. They are now shadowed by Intel updates which make the machine at my office whirrrr along but make my iBook less useful as a computer and more useful as a lap warmer. So… I’m wrapping it up for right now and htting the beach with Emily!

What;s with “I’m Chris Hansen with Dateline NBC” at the top of you Blog?

Hope you time is refreshing and relaxing.

    2. radblog says:

Dateline NBC does these “sting” operations that always take a turn when Chris Hansen (the host) says “I need to tell you something… I’m Chris Hansen… (during this pause, people are usually like ‘who?’)… with Dateline NBC (where people go ‘ohhh…’).

I just think it’s funny. I change the banner every so often, mostly with silly things. Hardly anyone notices it, only those among us who are paying attention to the world around them !!!
